Building Excellent Schools
Building Excellent Schools (BES) serves as a national model for supporting excellence in public education through the national charter school movement. BES focuses on improving urban education by providing support for designing, launching and sustaining urban charter schools (independently-managed public schools). West Denver Prep’s lead founder, Chris Gibbons, is a former fellow at BES.

The Daniels Fund
The Daniels Fund honors the legacy of Bill Daniels, whose direction was “to support innovative education initiatives (such as charter schools, voucher programs and school adoptions) that tend to improve the private or public educational system or allow disadvantaged students an opportunity to succeed."

Donnell-Kay Foundation
The Donnell-Kay Foundation improves public education and drives systemic school reform in Colorado through solid research, creative dialog and critical thinking.

Gates Family Foundation
The Gates Family Foundation invests in Colorado-based projects and organizations primarily through grants which have meaningful impact and enhance the quality of life for those visiting, working and living in the state. The Foundation seeks to promote self-sufficiency, excellence and innovation in education, healthy lifestyles, community enrichment, connection to nature and stewardship of the state's natural inheritance.

JFM Foundation
JFM funds selected educational projects and organizations based on individual criteria.

The Piton Foundation
The Piton Foundation’s work in public education aims at helping low-income communities develop a continuum of quality learning opportunities from the preschool years through preparation for higher education and the workforce.

Raza Development Fund
Raza Development Fund (RDF) “believes in the potential for community and economic development projects in newly established and emerging Latino communities outside of traditional population centers.”  RDF is the lending arm of the National Council of La Raza and has provided generous loans in support of the construction of West Denver Prep’s school building

Rose Community Foundation
Rose Community Foundation’s goal in education is to create lasting and positive change to ensure that every child has access to high-quality education.

Tough Schools Partnership
West Denver Prep is grateful for contributions from local foundations that have joined together to form The Tough Schools Partnership in support of schools that are improving achievement for low-income students.

Walton Family Foundation
Among its primary areas of focus, The Walton Foundation includes systematic reform in education, as well as a Charter School Initiative with both planning and start-up grant support.
